Scottish Fold Breeding Rules
- Scottish Folds must be bred with British Shorthairs.
- In real life, Scottish Folds cannot be bred with Scottish Folds due to a recessive gene abnormality that causes extremely painful crippling. For realism, we will also observe this standard.
- All kittens resulting from crossing Scottish Folds and British Shorthairs are considered purebred.
- Resulting Folded-eared kittens are classified as Scottish Folds. Kittens with partially folded ears are still considered Scottish Folds.
- Resulting Straight-eared kittens are calssified as British Shorthairs.
- Resulting Folded-eared kittens are classified as Scottish Folds. Kittens with partially folded ears are still considered Scottish Folds.
Kittens resulting from breeding two Scottish Folds are not eligible for registration
Exception: If your Scottish fold was bred from two Scottish folds before February 2013, then he/she is still eligible for registration. All folds born after February 2013 must adhere to the new breeding rules to be eligible.
